Temple of Debod, visit Ancient Egypt without leaving Madrid

You might belive that Madrid is a great place to visit, and thats true, with a lot of precious and wonderful palaces and monuments, parks with a marvelous gastronomy And that's true. But what you might ignore, is that there is another Madrid, a Hidden Madrid, special, magical and different, and today we recommend you one of these special places in Madrid, The Temple of Debod.



This temple is a small piece of Egypt in Spain, a real Egyptian temple gifted to Spain in 1967 after helping Egypt to save the Nubians temples in 1960, included the Abu Simbel one.

Originally, this temple was placed near the First Fall of the Nile, and was dedicated to the god Amon and the Godness Isis. Nowadays its fully restored and situated in Madrid Midtown, surrounded by a park and a small lake, to honor the near Nile original emplacement.

With More than 2000 years old, it's a magical place, Althougth in its history, the temple was swallowed by the Nile itself. Althougth it still has the original glyphs and the art added later by the Roman Empire.
